armed forces gambling support network: battling the odds
There is an extensive evidence base that suggests gambling- related harms have a significant impact upon both the mental health and physical health of individuals and their loved ones and it is likely that you would come across these individuals very often through your work in the Armed Forces Community.
Our aim is to help to alleviate the burden upon military services by working with these individuals through various activities and interventions. We are aiming to work across serving Military personnel, veterans, cadets and trainees along with reservists and all organisations supporting any of the above-mentioned personnel.

We have recently began a project specifically funded for supporting the Armed Forces Community when it comes to the impacts of gambling harms on the individuals and loved ones as part of the Armed Forces Gambling Support Network.
Those within the Armed Forces Community are 8 times more likely to experience harms form gambling due to various factors such as traumatic events or difficulty adjusting to civilian life after serving.
The aim of the Armed Forces Gambling Support Network has 3 main components:
-
Awareness- developing knowledge and understanding regarding gambling related harms within the armed forces community through the Bet You Can Help FREE training programme.
-
Reduce Stigma- working to reduce the stigma of gambling harms across the armed forces community and in doing so promote a culture that encourages access to support.
-
Increase Support- striving to increase the numbers of members of the armed forces community, at risk of, or experiencing gambling related harms in receiving an intervention at the earliest opportunity.
